National Front of Indian Trade unions ( NFITU) is an apex body founded in the year 1969 for representation, policy making and affiliation of trade unions at the national forum. It achieved the status of central trade union organization in the year 2008 by Ministry of Labour and Employment Government of India.
NFITU has its presence in around 35 industries across 15 states in India. It comprises of 138 affiliate unions and has more than sixty lakh membership of workers in organised as well as unorganised sectors.
NFITU organizes the unorganized agriculture workers, daily wages construction labours engaged in private sector and contractors, including workers under Mahatma Gandhi Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme and under organizations such as Coal India, Steel Authority of India, and power industries. The union educates the workers as well as their dependents. Health care for such families and necessary help to educate the children is being taken up. NFITU takes every effort in the interest and welfare of the workers. The benefit of all labourers welfare schemes run by state and central Government will be extended up to the last man.
